Merton anciently called Mere-tune or Mere Town a small village in Norfolk, England, 2 miles South from near by market town of Watton, 10 miles North of Thetford, Merton being in the hundred known as Wayland. In 1891 a population is recorded of 180. In 1912- 133. In 1933-164.

Iam drawn to believe that Parts of the original village would have stood within 200 yards North of the church, but was wiped out during the Plague.
The picture tour show's various places and people of Merton in days gone by.
